Declaring Managerial Economics
For a brief overview of the managerial economics major, please see the undergraduate brochure.
Entrance Criteria for the Managerial Economics Major
To declare managerial economics as your major, you must meet the entrance requirement. A 2.80 GPA is required in the following preparatory courses:
| Courses | Units |
|---|---|
| Economics 1A (4 units) and 1B (4 units) (Principles of Micro & Macroeconomics) | 8 |
| Mathematics 16A and 16B or Math 21A and 21B |
6-8 |
| Statistics 13 | 4 |
If a student has taken ARE 100A and/or ECN 101 before applying for admission to our major, ARE 100A will take the place of ECN 1A*, and ECN 101 will take the place of ECN 1B* for calculation of the student's entrance GPA.
In determining admission to major status, the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics counts only the first repeat of any pre-major course.
- *ARE 100A will take the place of ECN 1A only if the student has not repeated ECN 1A. Only the first ARE 100A grade will be used in calculating the entrance GPA. Similarly, ECN 101 will take the place of ECN 1B only if the student has not repeated ECN 1B. Only the first ECN 101 grade will be used in calculating the GPA.
You may calculate your entrance requirement GPA by using the entrance requirement worksheet.
